Dryvit Weatherprime: Color-Tinted Acrylic Primer

Dryvit Weatherprime is a water-based, color-tinted acrylic primer, which provides a flat, non-slip uniformly absorbent, color-coordinated surface for application of Dryvit exterior Weatherlastic finishes. Dryvit Weatherprime is available in a variety of standard colors as well as custom colors. Questions? Contact Us.

Weatherprime is recommended for the surface preparation of stucco, concrete and masonry to color coordinate the substrate with the selected Dryvit Weatherlastic finish.

Drying Time: The drying time of Weatherprime is dependent upon the air temperature and relative humidity. Under average drying conditions [70 °F (21 °C), 55% R.H.], Weatherprime is dry to the touch in 1/2 hour and sufficiently dry for application of a Weatherlastic finish in 2 hours. Protect from rain for at least 4 hours.

Job Conditions: Air and surface temperature for application of Weatherprime must be 40 °F (4 °C) or higher and must remain so for a minimum of 24 hours.

Temporary Protection: Shall be provided at all times until all work is completed to protect the wall from weather and other damage.

Surfaces shall not be below 40 °F (4 °C) and must be clean, dry, structurally sound and free of efflorescence, grease, oil, form release agents and curing compounds. On painted surfaces, remove all blistered or peeling paint to a sound substrate. Remove all gloss by sanding.

Approximately 1500 ft2 (140 m2) per 50 lb (23 kg) pail, depending upon surface roughness and porosity of the substrate.

Weatherprime must be stored at a minimum of 40 °F (4 °C) and a maximum of 100 °F (38 °C) in tightly sealed containers protected from weather and out of direct sunlight. The shelf life is 2 years from date of manufacture when properly stored in unopened pails.

• Avoid applying Weatherprime in direct sunlight. Always work on the shady side of the wall or protect the area with appropriate shading material.

Weatherprime can be applied using a brush, paint roller or spray equipment.
