Henry Metal Clad 705FR LT is a self-adhered air, vapor, and water-resistive barrier made for above-grade wall assemblies. Formerly known as Henry Blueskin Metal Clad LT and CCW Fire Resist 705FR-A XLT, it uses an extra-tacky rubberized asphalt adhesive bonded to a durable facer made from cross-laminated HDPE and aluminum foil. The metallic surface gives the membrane strong weathering, UV, and burn resistance while helping protect the wall assembly from unwanted air and moisture movement.
Metal Clad 705FR LT is designed for low-temperature installation, with application possible down to 15°F (-9°C). Its fully adhered adhesive layer grips rough surfaces and helps seal around penetrating fasteners. The membrane can also remain exposed for up to 12 months, giving crews more flexibility when exterior cladding or other wall components cannot be installed right away.
The membrane can be used over a wide range of common construction materials, including precast and cast-in-place concrete, masonry, steel, aluminum, galvanized metal, exterior gypsum board, polyiso sheathing, OSB, plywood, and dimensional lumber. It can also be used as a flashing or transition membrane with Henry Air-Bloc and Barritech fluid-applied air barrier systems.
Metal Clad 705FR LT provides strong air and vapor control while also resisting water penetration. It has very low water vapor transmission, passes nail-sealability and low-temperature flexibility testing, and provides good puncture and tear resistance. The membrane is also compliant in many NFPA 285 wall assemblies and meets the listed IBC fire-performance criteria for combustible water-resistive barriers.
Installation is straightforward: cut the membrane to size, remove the release liner, press it into place, and firmly roll the field, edges, and laps with a J-roller. Neighboring sheets should overlap by at least 2 inches, and penetrations, terminations, and other interruptions are sealed with approved Henry detailing products to maintain a continuous barrier.
