SpecSeal® ES Elastomeric Sealant is a latex-based firestop sealant made to seal construction joints while helping block smoke, fire, and sound. It is used mainly in joint firestopping applications where walls, floors, ceilings, or partitions meet and need to maintain their fire rating and sound control. Once dry, it forms a durable elastomeric barrier that helps slow the spread of fire and smoke while also helping restore sound control in rated assemblies.
This sealant sticks to most common construction surfaces and can be applied with standard caulking tools or by trowel. It is water-based for easier cleanup, contains no solvents, no asbestos, no inorganic fibers, and no halogens, and it stays water-resistant after drying without re-emulsifying. That makes it easier to work with on the job while still giving long-term performance.
SpecSeal ES has been tested in one-, two-, three-, and four-hour joint systems when used at the proper thickness over approved backing materials. It has also been cycled for joint movement up to ±25%, making it a good fit for fire-rated joints that still need some flexibility. It is also paintable when dry and can help restore acoustical performance in sound-rated assemblies.
