BITUTHENE Primer WP-3000 is a water-based latex primer made to prepare surfaces before installing BITUTHENE waterproofing membranes and GCP underlayments. It helps bind loose dust and concrete efflorescence to the surface, creating a better base for the membrane to stick to. This improves both the initial grab of the membrane and its long-term adhesion after installation.
The primer can be used on structural concrete, masonry, and wood in both vertical and horizontal applications. It is designed for use at temperatures of 40°F (5°C) or higher, making it suitable for a wide range of foundation, wall, deck, and waterproofing jobs where BITUTHENE membranes will be installed.
BITUTHENE Primer WP-3000 comes ready to use and should not be thinned with water or solvent. It can be applied by roller or spray, with a professional pump-type sprayer recommended for larger jobs. Coverage is approximately 500–600 sq. ft. per gallon, and the coat should be even without puddles or runs.
Under normal conditions, the primer should be allowed to dry for about one hour before the membrane is installed, although humid conditions may increase drying time. In most cases, only the amount of surface that can be covered within 24 hours should be primed. If the surface collects a noticeable amount of dust or dirt before the membrane goes down, it should be primed again.
With its water-based formula, easy application, and strong adhesion benefits, BITUTHENE Primer WP-3000 gives installers a straightforward way to properly prepare concrete, masonry, and wood before installing BITUTHENE waterproofing membranes.
