DOWSIL 786 Silicone Sealant is a one-part silicone sealant made for bathrooms, kitchens, and other high-moisture areas where a durable, watertight seal is needed. It contains an antimicrobial and has been tested against a range of microbes. Once cured, the sealant is mildew resistant and stays permanently flexible without shrinking, cracking, crumbling, or drying out. It also resists staining, spotting, and color changes, helping the finished joint keep a clean appearance over time.
This sealant is designed for nonporous surfaces around showers, tubs, sinks, urinals, whirlpools, and other bathroom fixtures. It can also be used for waterproofing rimless sinks and for ceramic tile grouting. DOWSIL 786 bonds to many common surfaces, including porcelain, cultured marble, painted surfaces, and glass, and primer is usually not needed on ceramic, glass, or glazed materials.
DOWSIL 786 comes ready to use and can be applied directly from a standard caulking cartridge with a hand-operated or air-operated gun. It provides about 5–11 minutes of tooling time and becomes tack-free in approximately 20 minutes under standard conditions, giving installers enough time to shape and finish the bead before it skins over.
The cured silicone provides strong, flexible performance for joints exposed to regular humidity and temperature changes. It meets ASTM C920, Type S, Grade NS, Class 25 when tested on glass and aluminum. It also complies with FDA Regulation 21 CFR 177.2600 and NSF/ANSI 51 for all food-contact types, adding versatility for commercial and institutional applications where those requirements matter.
DOWSIL 786 is available in white, translucent white, and clear. It is best suited for nonporous surfaces and should not be used for structural glazing, prolonged water immersion, cementitious surfaces such as masonry, or surfaces that will be painted.
