DOWSIL Tub, Tile & Ceramic Silicone Sealant is a one-part, acetoxy-cure silicone sealant made for kitchen, bathroom, and other non-porous applications where a durable, watertight seal is needed. It cures at room temperature to form 100% silicone rubber that stays flexible over time without becoming brittle, cracking, shrinking, or chalking. Once cured, the sealant is also mildew resistant, making it well suited for areas that are regularly exposed to moisture and humidity.
This sealant is designed for a wide range of common kitchen and bath jobs. It can be used around bathtubs, shower enclosures, sinks, vanities, countertops, lavatories, faucets, saunas, hot tubs, plumbing fixtures, drains, piping, shower doors, and floor seams. It can also be used as an adhesive, sealant, or grout when repairing or replacing ceramic tile, giving it plenty of versatility for both new installations and repair work.
DOWSIL Tub, Tile & Ceramic Silicone Sealant is made for quick, straightforward application. It provides about 5 to 10 minutes of tooling time, becomes tack-free in approximately 15 to 20 minutes, and a 1/8-inch section can reach full setup in about 24 hours under standard conditions. It can be applied in temperatures from -20°F to 122°F, giving installers a fairly wide working range.
After cure, the sealant offers ±25% movement capability, allowing the joint to handle normal expansion and contraction without losing its seal. It also has a continuous service temperature range of -40°F to 350°F, so the cured silicone holds up well through normal temperature changes in kitchens, bathrooms, and other interior wet areas.
The sealant bonds to many common non-porous kitchen and bath materials and comes in clear, white, translucent white, and almond to match different fixtures and finishes. It is supplied in a 10.3 fl oz cartridge with a removable, reusable, resealable nozzle, which helps reduce waste and makes the cartridge easier to store between uses.
For best performance, surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of oil, frost, old caulk, and other contaminants before application. This product is intended for non-porous surfaces and should not be used for structural glazing, prolonged water submersion, below-grade work, or porous surfaces such as concrete, cement-based materials, or stone.
