The HE200AM Henry Blueskin Metal Clad Weather Barrier is a high-performance, self-adhesive composite membrane designed for exceptional protection against the elements. This robust membrane features a blend of rubberized asphalt and dual layers of high-strength polyethylene, topped with a metallic aluminum film for superior durability. It is available in various widths and comes with a removable release film for easy application. This product serves as a waterproofing and air barrier solution, offering excellent weather resistance and high adhesion to a variety of substrates such as building penetrations, window openings, roof surfaces, and more. It is commonly employed in Building Envelope System® air barrier transitions, working seamlessly with Air-Bloc® or Blueskin® membranes. For optimal performance, priming is mandatory to achieve maximum adhesion.
Advantages:
– Superior Surface Adhesion: Features an aluminum surfacing that enhances the adhesion of construction sealants.
– Weather and UV Resistance: The metallic aluminum surfacing provides outstanding resistance to UV rays and weather conditions.
– High Compatibility: Works effectively with other Henry BES components, ensuring a cohesive application.
– Flexibility: Offers ease of application around detailed penetrations.
– Eco-Friendly: Contains 100% solids with no volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Usage:
Primarily used as a self-adhered membrane for air, vapor, and rain barriers on walls made of masonry, concrete, plywood, OSB, or exterior grade gypsum board sheathing. It is ideal for creating seamless transitions in conjunction with Henry Liquid Membranes and metal structures on curtain walls, windows, and door frames.
Surface Preparation:
The substrate must be dry, clean, and free from oil, dust, or excess mortar. Compatible with various materials including concrete, steel, aluminum, and more. All surfaces require an application of Blueskin® Adhesive or Blueskin LVC prior to the installation of Metal Clad. Surface priming conditions and specific preparation instructions are provided to ensure optimal adhesion and effectiveness.
Application Details:
For comprehensive application guidance, refer to the Henry Air Barrier system specifications. The membrane should overlap by at least 2 inches on all sides and ends, and it must be rolled with a countertop roller to secure full contact and adherence. Detailing around openings and edges must be executed meticulously to maintain the air tightness of the barrier system.
Storage and Handling:
Store rolls in their original packaging, away from water, extreme heat, and direct sunlight. If the product becomes stiff due to cold temperatures, it should be warmed in a heated environment until it returns to a workable condition.
Limitations:
Avoid direct contact with flexible PVC/vinyl membranes and certain sealants that may affect the asphalt compound. Always consult the sealant manufacturer for compatibility issues.
Regulatory Compliance:
This product meets the Mass Energy Code for Air Leakage, ensuring compliance with critical energy efficiency standards.
