Capable of being used both as an all-purpose sealant and in structural glazing, GE Silpruf SCS2000 can be used in a wide variety of situations, in a low-cost, easy-to-use package.  GE Silpruf is a single-component medium modulus silicone sealant with superior movement capability and can be used on a wide variety of surfaces.  It’s a good choice for both professional construction work, as well as home repairs and DIY projects.

GE Silpruf offers superior longevity, potentially capable of lasting decades in outdoor situations without cracking or otherwise losing its seal.  Its movement capability is an impressive ±50%, allowing it to be used even when the underlying components are not entirely stable.  This also gives it excellent resistance to even severe impacts.

The seal formed is both air and watertight, allowing for a high degree of weatherproofing.  GE Silpruf is also highly resistant to UV radiation, holding onto its color even in direct sunlight.  Its usage includes:

• Window perimeters
• Flashings
• Punched openings
• Other critical junctions

It also adheres well to nearly any common construction material, such as both treated and untreated wood, glass, vinyl, most plastics, fluoropolymer paints, aluminums, concrete, ceramics and porcelain, stonework, and much more.  Some substrates may require a primer for proper bonding, but most do not.    In typical circumstances, GE Silpruf is self-adhering.

Other benefits include:

• A high degree of thermal stability.  Once cured and set, its functional temperature range is huge, from -55°F (-48°C) to 300°F (149°C) and up to 400°F (204°C).  However, it is recommended to limit high-temperature exposure.  More specialized sealants should be used for dedicated high-temperature use.
• A highly stable consistency.  The base paste is lightweight and maintains its consistency across a wide variety of temperatures as well, remaining easy to work with and gun able.
• Relatively slow curing gives sufficient time for placement and tooling before the paste sets.
• Limited slumping.  GE Silpruf SCS2000 can be used horizontally, vertically, or even overhead without slumping after setting.
