In order to provide improved adhesion down to -4°C (25°F), Bituthene® 4000 is used in conjunction with the water-based Bituthene® 4000 Surface Conditioner. The Bituthene® Primer B2 which is solvent-based or the Bituthene® WP-3000 Primer which is water-based is used together with Bituthene 3000. Bituthene® 3000 can be applied to temperatures as low as 5°C (40°F). Hence, the Bituthene® 4000 roll has a wider temperature application range.

A special water-based latex surface treatment, known as the 4000 Surface Conditioner, gives the treated substrate a strong, high-tack finish. It is designed particularly to bind concrete efflorescence and construction site dust, creating an ideal surface for the Bituthene System 4000 Waterproofing Membrane. The split release-on-demand feature allows the membrane to be split into two pieces for greater ease of installation in detailed areas.
