Pecora Sealant AC-20 Is an Excellent All-Around Acrylic Latex Caulk
If you’re looking for an all-purpose latex caulk for both indoor and outdoor projects, it’s hard to do much better than Pecora Sealant AC-20. AC-20 was specifically designed and formulated to be affordable, long-lasting, and versatile – making it a great addition to the toolbox of contractors and home DIYers alike. As long as it’s properly applied, it can last for years while effectively providing both sealing and weather resistance to concrete joints, floor planks, windows, door frames, baseboards, kitchen/bathroom fixtures, and more.
The Many Benefits of Pecora Sealant AC-20
AC-20 is made of pure acrylic latex with a silicone additive that brings better adhesion and weather resistance. It’s been specifically formulated for general purpose use in a multitude of construction and home repair applications.
As an elastomeric seal, AC-20 can stand up to normal shifts and wobbling without breaking or cracking, although it’s not rated for severe movement.
Being latex-based, it’s entirely compatible with both latex and oil paints. It will not stain adjacent surfaces. Further, it has superior color stability as well as resistance to UV, so it will hold its color over the years even in direct sunlight. This makes it a great choice for residential projects, as well as customer-facing areas of commercial buildings.
In addition, Pecora Sealant AC-20 is resistant to mold and mildew, making it suitable for use in food preparation such as meat and poultry preparation plants. It’s been approved and accepted by the US Department of Agriculture for this purpose.
In short, AC-20 serves a wide variety of caulking and sealing needs, while remaining affordable.
Properly Utilizing and Applying Pecora Sealant AC-20
While easy to use and apply with a standard caulk gun, there are a few important points to keep in mind:
- The caulk takes 24 hours to seal and must be protected from moisture during this time. Do not use it outdoors if rain is expected in the near future.
- Be sure to properly weep windows before installation, or else moisture could be trapped between the caulk and the glass, leading to a weakened seal over time.
- Use of aggressive cleaning or disinfecting compounds should be avoided, as they can break down the latex.
