Neogard 7470 Aliphatic Urethane (Hempel 47LJB) is a single-component aliphatic urethane designed as a weather-protective topcoat for pedestrian and vehicular traffic-bearing waterproofing systems. It provides a durable exposed surface for areas such as parking garages, stadiums, balconies, plaza decks, pedestrian walkways, and rooftop recreational areas.
The coating combines flexibility with high strength to handle demanding traffic conditions. Neogard 7470 provides 2,500 psi tensile strength and 250% elongation, allowing the coating to remain flexible while resisting wear and movement. It also offers strong abrasion resistance, tear resistance, and adhesion greater than 400 psi, making it well suited for waterproofing systems exposed to regular pedestrian or vehicle traffic.
As an aliphatic urethane topcoat, 7470 is intended to provide weather protection over compatible Neogard waterproofing assemblies. The coating has 77.7% solids by volume and a VOC content of 195 g/L. Several standard colors are available, including Gray, Tan, Light Gray, Black, Charcoal Gray, and Dark Maple. The Light Gray version also has a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) value of 81.
Application can be completed by roller or squeegee. Because the product is single-component, there is no two-part mixing ratio or conventional pot life to manage. The material should still be mixed for approximately 3–5 minutes before application, with a Jiffy Mixer-style paddle recommended for proper blending.
At 75°F and 50% relative humidity, Neogard 7470 typically requires approximately 8–12 hours before recoating and about 72 hours before exposure to vehicular traffic. The substrate temperature during application must be between 40°F and 110°F. The coating is not recommended for constant immersion and should not be applied over asphaltic compounds.
