Dryvit SkimIt is a ready-to-use, trowel applied material used to smooth a properly installed Dryvit reinforced base coat over insulation board. It is specifically formulated to achieve a smooth surface free of trowel marks and small ridges. Dryvit SkimIt is intended for use in small areas such as bands or in panels of a minimum 2 ft x 2 ft (0.61 m x 0.61 m) to a maximum 5 ft x 5 ft (1.5 m x 1.5 m) [or 25 sq ft (2.3 m²) with the vertical height not being more than 5 ft (1.5 m)] area that require a smooth coating such as Dryvit Reflectit. Provides a smooth surface for subsequent application of Dryvit Color Prime

Drying Time: Under average drying conditions [70 °F (21 °C), 50% R.H.], SkimIt will dry in 24 hours after the final coat is applied.

Job Conditions: Air and surface temperatures must be 40 °F (4 °C) or higher and must remain so for a minimum of 24 hours. Not recommended for application during time of direct sunlight exposure. If necessary drape the scaffold with nursery shade cloth or other suitable material to shade the wall during application.

The reinforced base coat shall have been applied using the two pass method as described in the system application instructions. Ensure that no mesh pattern is visible. Once the base coat is dry; use a sanding rasp to eliminate any imperfections. Ensure that the base coat is dry and free of any dust, dirt or other contaminants. It is critical that the base coat surface be clean, dry, flat, smooth and free of dust and trowel marks and other imperfections prior to the application of SkimIt.

Using a stainless steel trowel, apply a tight, thin coat of SkimIt to the base coat free of trowel marks. Allow the thin coat of SkimIt to take up for 15 – 30 minutes and then sand with a foam sanding block(i.e. fine or very fine). Remove all sanding dust then apply a second coat in the same manner and allow it to dry for 10 – 20 minutes. Sand again, as previously noted, to achieve a very smooth, blemish-free surface. The wall surface should then be checked closely for any slight imperfections and touch up completed before proceeding. Remove all sanding dust with a damp cloth and allow to thoroughly dry. The SkimIt must be allowed to fully dry – minimum of 24 hours
