Depending on the amount of traffic, Masterseal 1500 can be applied as following for adequate protection:
Light/Medium Duty:
- Parking Stalls
- Balconies
- Plazas
- Stadium Applications
- Apply 1 coat of M 205 at 25 wet mils and let dry for 24 hours before next coat.
- Apply 1 coat of M 235 at 25 wet mils and then proceed to apply aggregate while top coat is still wet. Immediately back roll aggregate to incorporate into coating. Aggregate should be spread at 10-15lbs per 100 sq. ft. in intermediate coat.
When system has been fully applied, let cure for 48-72 hours before opening to traffic.
Heavy Duty:
- Drive lanes
- Loading docks
- Mechanical rooms
- Apply 1 coat of M 205 at 25 wet mils and let dry for 24 hours before next coat.
- Apply 1 coat of M 235 at 20 wet mils and then proceed to apply aggregate while top coat is still wet. Immediately back roll aggregate to incorporate into coating. Aggregate should be spread at 10-15lbs per 100 sq. ft. in intermediate coat.
- Apply 2nd coat of M 235 and spread using a flat squeegee. Immediately back roll to level it out. For additional slip resistance, aggregate can be applied to this coat at 7-10lbs per 100 sq. ft.
When system has been fully applied, let cure for 48-72 hours before opening to traffic.
Extra Heavy Duty:
- Turn lanes
- Exit/exit ramps
For extra heavy duty applications, follow same steps as the heavy duty, except apply material at a coverage rate of 50 sq. ft./gallon.
PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC SYSTEMS
1.Prime concrete substrate (if required).
2.Apply 25 (0.64 mm) wet mils of Masterseal M 200 using a proper notched squeegee at 55 sq. ft./gal (1.35–1.47 m2/L). Immediately backroll to level base coat. Allow to cure overnight.
3.Apply 25 wet mils (0.64 mm) Masterseal TC 225 using a proper notched squeegee at 55–60 ft2 /gal (1.35–1.47 m2 /L). Immediately backroll to level Masterseal TC 225 material.
Incorporating Aggregate:
Backroll Method
- While the coating is still wet, broadcast Masterseal 941/941 DR or equivalent 16–30 rounded silica sand at 15–25lbs/100 ft2 / gal (0.75–1.25 kg/m2), then backroll into the coating to fully encapsulate.
Integrated Method
After mixing the top coat per instructions, pour half of the mixed material into a second pail. Add 20lbs of Masterseal 945 aggregate to one half of the mixed material (2.5 gallons of TC 225). If using short-filled Masterseal TC 225 Tint Base material, pour 20lbs of Masterseal 945 directly into the pail after pre-mixing pigment packs into the material. Mix for an additional 3 minutes for uniform consistency. Apply the topcoat at 20 wet mils or 80 sf/gallon with 1⁄8″ notch squeegee. Fully saturate the roller. Backroll with 3⁄8″ nap roller, roll in a crosshatch pattern for equal distribution of aggregate. Repeat for second half of top coat. For light vehicular use, a second coat is required. Pail will need to be remixed for 2 minutes after 10 minutes of idle sitting to redistribute the aggregate.
CLEAN UP
Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with xylene. Cured material must be removed mechanically.
CURING TIME
Allow curing time of 72 hours before vehicular use. Extend the curing time in cool-weather conditions. To reduce the time period in which Masterseal Pedestrian Traffic 1500 might be vulnerable to inclement weather or to reduce the time between coats, use MastesSeal 914.
